Thank you to everyone who made it along to our assembly on Friday! Photos of the wedding reception will follow soon!
Our class Assembly
About our class
There are 18 pupils in our P 1/2 class, 9 primary ones and 9 primary twos. Primary one will be working hard learning to read, write and count. Each morning they will join Miss Haley’s primary one class to learn their sounds. Primary two will be working hard on phonics, reading, grammar, writing and maths. We will also be learning about a variety of topics e.g. Poetry & Rhyme, The Park, Space and the work of authors such as Neil Butterworth or Julia Donaldson during our book study topic.
Primary 1 / 2 helpers
Mrs Japp helps our class each morning from 9am – 10:10am. Mrs Saad also comes in to help every Thursday and Friday. Miss Masterton is with us each day and also Miss Milroy. We are very lucky to have so many adults in our class to help and support us.
Homework
Phonics new sounds or revision should be completed every evening and returned to the class. When your child moves onto key rings, these should also be practised that evening and returned. Written homework will be sent home on a Tuesday, to be returned on Friday. CAPER books will be changed every Monday. Primary two will also be given homework every Tuesday, to be returned on Friday. This will often consist of phonics, maths or an activity related to our topic.
P.E.
Mrs McWatt will take the class for P.E. every Tuesday and our specialist Miss McLean will teach them on Wednesday. Children require a P.E. kit which should come to school on a Monday and will be sent home on Friday to be washed. Indoor / P.E. shoes will be sent home at the end of each term.
Water in class
Children may bring water to school and are encouraged to drink regularly throughout the school day. Water bottles can be purchased from the school office. Please provide you child with a snack for break time. This should consist of one item that can be eaten quickly before they play.
Assemblies and shows
Our class will lead two assemblies this session. These will take place on Friday 16th November 2012 and there will be another in April 2013. These will show you what your child is learning in class through song, rhyme, speech, drama and dance. Primary 1 / 2 will also be putting on the Christmas show this year.
