P1 Assembly Thank you to everyone who made it along to our assembly!
Primary 1
About our class
There are 19 pupils in primary 1, 9 boys and 10 girls. We will be working hard throughout the year to learn to read, write and count. We will also be learning about topics like dinosaurs and the work of authors, such as , Julia Donaldson.
Primary 1 helpers
Mrs Japp comes in to help us every morning from 11.00am until 12.00pm. We have been lucky to have Miss Milroy in class too and many of the children know her from the nursery.
Homework
Phonics new sounds or revision should be completed on a nightly basis, this should only take a little time. Words on keyrings should also be completed daily and returned to school when your child reaches this point. Some form of written homework will be sent home on Tuesday to be returned on Friday, this will mainly be number work. CAPER books come home on Friday to be returned the following Thursday.
P.E.
P.E days are Wednesday with Miss McLean and Thursday with Mrs Hall. Children require a P.E kit which should come to school on a Monday and will be sent home on Friday to be washed. Please avoid sending girls in tights on P.E days. Indoor/P.E shoes will be sent home at the end of each term as children’s feet grow so quickly at this age.
Water in class
Children may bring water to school with them and they have access to this all day for the class water tray. Snacks for breaktime should consist of 1 item that they can eat quickly before they play.
Assemblies and shows
Parents and other family members are invited to attend our assemblies (October 12th 2012 and April 19th 2013) these are good opportunities to find out what is happening in class and to watch your child performing songs. Primary 1 will also be involved in the Christmas show this year.
