Home Learning

Homework is a set task that is extra to the normal working day in school.  A copy of our policy is available in school and on this website. (see School Documents)

Purposes of homework

•  Providing an opportunity, on occasions, to consolidate or practise work already done in class.
• To encourage independent working and self-disciplined approach.
• Preparation for forthcoming class work, e.g. finding information about a particular topic.
• To make use of materials and sources of information (including parents) which are nor accessible in the classroom.

• Having been taught by the teacher it can enable children who have been absent the opportunity to practice the skills at home.

(NB) Children on holiday will not be given class work in advance to complete on holiday.

Homework diaries are issued to each child containing details of the homework task and the way in which parents can help their child. These diaries are sent home regularly to keep parents informed.
